This adventure has now become an annual event and you don’t even have to be into gardening to enjoy it!
The guided garden tour visits charming cottage gardens, home to abundant native flora and fauna. Look up from the gardens and enjoy spectacular coastal panoramas or marvel at the stars at the world's only island Dark Sky Sanctuary.
The Garden Tour is a major fundraiser for the Great Barrier Island Community Health Trust to purchase equipment for use on the Island. This year’s chosen tour is the Nikau – which requires walking some distances but on relatively flat terrain. It includes six wonderful gardens ranging from those with extensive vistas to tranquil quiet spaces. Geographically it covers central and southern Aotea Great Barrier.
Included in the weekend is a Charity Dinner, local walks, cafes, museums and art galleries. We will also be visiting the Island Gin distillery and the local Aotea Brewing Company to sample some of their brews.
