The 'OG' of private walks in New Zealand the Banks Track has trailblazed the way for private landowners to share their paradise for all to enjoy.
Starting and finishing the track in picturesque Akaroa we walk 31kms over 3 days. Rich in diversity the Banks Track traverses coastal cliff tops, passes through ancient forests, waterfalls, tree ferns and descends into otherwise inaccessible bays. We get to enjoy an abundance of wildlife, glorious birdsong and gaze into never-ending night skies, whilst staying in unique accommodation each night offering rustic comfort, history, warmth and character, thanks to the local families who independently own and operate them.
With all luggage transfers included we only need to carry our own day pack on the track each day and there is the option to do a kayak tour within the Pōhatu Marine Reserve on the second morning.
At the end of the track we stay the night in the quaint historic French and British settlement of Akaroa with a free half day to explore more of this charming little town.
